Alvin Lee

Alvin Lee was born in Nottingham, England and began playing guitar at a young age, influenced by rock and roll and blues artists like Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, and B.B. King.

In 1966, he formed the band Ten Years After with bassist Leo Lyons, drummer Ric Lee, and keyboardist Chick Churchill. The band gained international fame after their performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, where Alvin's virtuosic guitar playing on songs like "I'm Going Home" became a highlight of the festival and a defining moment in rock history.

Throughout the 1970s, Ten Years After continued to release successful albums and tour the world, with Alvin's guitar playing becoming increasingly refined and expressive. Alvin also released several solo albums over the years, showcasing his versatility as a songwriter and performer.

After Ten Years After disbanded in 1975, Alvin continued to tour and record as a solo artist, collaborating with other musicians and exploring different genres like country and jazz. He also reunited with Ten Years After for several reunion concerts and recordings over the years.

Alvin Lee passed away on March 6, 2013, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most influential guitarists of his generation. His technical skill, inventive improvisation, and soulful playing continue to inspire musicians and fans around the world.
